Assembling a Winning Platform
With the freedom a good investment gives, Frontier started as a question, “What would it take for an engineering business to provide a new level of service, a tighter focus, producing a high quality set of plans?” Frontier drew inspiration from a couple of engineers from a large firm who set off on their own and produced some of the major resorts in Hawaii and the idea that a sharper focus can be made by the same people willing to step out and assemble a winning platform; the ingredients needed to make something great.
A Sharper Focus: Service Mindset vs. Growth Mindset
Some large firms set sight on growth and will never say no, needing to feed growth often leads to underestimating scope due to the frantic pace they’ve set to grow at all cost. Having to take the work and assign it to others who are at times new and inexperienced, overseen by hurried supervisors who hope the new guy asks the right questions, and are busier than they want to be.
With a service mindset, Frontier has positioned itself to provide a tighter focus on your project, building a business platform uniquely suited in experience and level of resource a commercial project needs to succeed. We’re here to move the dream forward, and as it’s said.. those who are just there to serve will never lack work.
Here is the platform Frontier has created.
Better Resources: Strategic Partners
Experience comes in many forms, and the team Frontier has brought together is a valuable resource for each project. From the production experience of the team and the tools, libraries, and software aiding in design, to the professional associations and council retained guiding the decisions, Frontier is well positioned to bring vision to life.
Design
As any frontier is at a leading edge, Frontier has selected the most advanced and versatile structural design package available in the construction industry: ETABS designed the current tallest structure in the world in the Burj Khalifa in Dubai at 800 meters and was instrumental in helping engineers solve the structural challenges of the design, and ETABS was used in building analysis and design of the Jeddah Tower in Saudi Arabia where construction has begun for the world’s first 1 km tall structure. Mastering the challenges of high seismic and wind and the authority the leading edge of unprecedented design, Frontier brings the sophistication and elegance of this tool wherever are going.
Frontier has licensed a thorough collection of design spreadsheets which cover hundreds of design areas in the major construction materials (and some unusual ones as well), and is known as an ‘excel guru’ in it’s own right. Frontier is well equipped for the design scenarios at the edge your project is pressing into.
Frontier has also licensed libraries consisting of hundreds of essential state of the art details ready for contract drawings that help ensure greater project efficiency, quality, and accuracy. Bringing legacy experience, drawing on the body of knowledge of the history of the construction industry, the details are also used in the initial phases of planning and detailing problem areas out before design to save time in problems usually discovered when final details are put on paper, as well as adapting to new situations.
Drafting
Frontier has worked with Arcs and Lines Studio since the beginning. As the drafting director at major engineering offices in Colorado, she has brought her experience in to start her own drafting company. Working in drafting, management, architectural aspects, design-build, and directly with contractors gives her an advantage when she is putting experience to plan. Her extensive experience in the engineering and construction world helps spot problems and find solutions early in the project process, giving the plans her eye for detail a new hire won’t see and skips the extra round of red lines. We are thrilled to be working together again.
Council
Frontier found an experienced Colorado firm specializing in Construction Law with an emphasis on the full service representation of Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors. A combined 70 years of experience representing design professionals contract drafting, negotiations, and risk management. Awarded the AIA-Colorado President’s award and has twice received the ACEC-Colorado’s Presidents Award. They are committed friends of design professions and recognize the value the design professions bring to our society and community. They also serve as personal counsel to many of the largest A/E firms in Colorado, because they know the A/E business best. The legal and insurance council with decades of wisdom solely in the A/E field provide the wisdom to keep the project on a solid footing.
Purpose
You can partner with Frontier to build your city up in more ways. Working for 5 years now with Royal Family Kids Camp, a summer camp and year round mentor program for foster kids, and leading up to the formation of Frontier, we partner by donating 1/3 of company revenue to the local chapter of Royal Family, who before the pandemic was reaching 30% of the foster kids in Colorado working closely with the state to maximize the benefit to the children with the hardest stories. It has been noted by the social workers who work closely with them that 1 week of camp has a bigger impact to their well being than a whole year of therapy, making a space for them to enjoy being kids, being encouraged, and find great friends.
